Your ideas + commitment + action = harmony in your life & relationships

Bio & Philosophy

After graduating from high school in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, I spent ten

years in Catholic seminary, which I left because I did not believe all

that was required by the church of its priests.

I then earned a Masters Degree in Social Work in 1971 at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, and worked the next 33 years as a psychotherapist, helping individuals,  couples, and families improve their lives and relationships.

During this period I worked with several Milwaukee area agencies and clinics,   and directed a five-year demonstration project aimed at helping adolescents recover from alcohol and drug abuse. I also served as a consultant to Milwaukee Public

Schools and several social service organizations, and as a board member and president of the Wisconsin Council on Family Relations. I have taught courses on family systems dynamics, and served as consultant and supervisor of psychotherapists working with multi-problem families and hard-to-reach youth

In 2004 I chose to become a Life and Relationship Coach. I want to put  my experience as a therapist and educator, and my insights about personal growth and relationships, into a format that can be used more quickly and privately by more people than psychotherapy can be.

I believe that as children, by identifying with our parents and other care givers, we all learned both positive and negative ways of relating to ourselves and to others. Most of us go through life repeating bad habits that limit our ways of being with ourselves and with others, unless and until we are fortunate enough to learn new principles and ways of relating.

To me "living in harmony with self" means consistently choosing from a place of congruence between our thoughts/beliefs, feelings, and deepest values. "Living in harmony with others" means consistently relating to others from love, not fear, acknowledging and honoring both their own and our own highest truth.

Through this web site my intent is to offer a listening and provide some ideas that will support the discovery of the highest truth of my clients and myself. In my work as a coach and an educator I continually find that I am a partner in a mutual learning and growth process.

My commitment is that in our dialogue my clients and I will continue to grow as persons, and find that place of balance, peace, and love that I like to refer to as "harmony."
